AR Project Guidelines and Rubric

AR Book Project
50 Points

Each quarter you will complete a project of your choice about a book you read during that quarter.  The projects will be presented during the last week of the quarter.  For the project you can choose one of the choice below to complete.  However, you must make a different project choice each quarter. For example you cannot do the Acting project choice 1st quarter and then again 4th quarter. Your project should be neat, creative, and share the important details of your story.

Project Choices:

  1. INTERVIEW- Interview a character from your book.  Type at least 15 questions that will give the character the opportunity to discuss his/her thoughts and feelings about his/her part in the story.  This may be recorded or done live.  You will be the character who is interviewed. A typed script must be included.
  2. ACTING-Dress up as your favorite character and act out your favorite scene.  You may have multiple characters involved in the skit to help you out.  Please be sure all characters have practiced and know what they are to perform.  A typed minimum one page script must be included.
  3. SCRAPBOOK OF MEMORIES: Create a scrapbook for the main character based upon the novel. The scrapbook should contain pictures, mementos, postcards, etc. that give details from the story. Each item in the scrapbook should have a note stating why it appears in the scrapbook. The book should also be in chronological order. Make it neat, colorful, and creative.  (minimum 5 pages)
  4. MOBILE: Create a mobile of the different parts of the book. You may use note cards, cutout symbols, pictures, or objects, etc. Use yarn to attach the items to a hanger. On each section of the mobile, write a 3-4 sent. to describe the specific part of the story, including setting, protagonist, antagonist, conflict, main events, resolution, theme, or your opinion about the book. The mobile should be neat and colorful. (minimum 10 items)
  5. ABC BOOK: Create an ABC book based on the events, setting, and characters in your story. You will need to use each letter of the alphabet (26) and have a minimum of 2 sentences per page.
  6. TECHNOLOGY PRESENTATION:  Create a presentation analyzing the characters, plot, and theme of your book. Give descriptions for each character and show how they change throughout the book.  See me for other ideas you may have. (minimum 3 minutes/8 slides)
**Slides: Title, Setting, Plot, theme, at least 3 different     character slides, and recommendations.
  1. DIORAMA: Create a 3D model or diorama of a scene from your book. Include a written explanation of the scene (complete sentences, 2-3 paragraphs).
  2. TIME CAPSULE: Put together a time capsule for your book. It will be opened 200 years in the future, so it must contain items and descriptions that highlight the important parts of the book. What artifacts would be preserved? What letters would the character write? Where would this capsule be buried? Be creative and make it colorful! (include at least 10 items; written descriptions on separate paper)
  3. Do a COLLAGE/POSTER showing pictures or 3-d items that relate to the book, and then write a sentence or two caption beside each one to explain its significance. (minimum 10 pictures)
  4. Make a NEWSPAPER about the book, you must include 2 articles.  You also can add other parts of a newspaper such as: comics, ads, weather, letter to the editor, obituaries, sports, etc.  (minimum 1 page typed.)
